Optional analytics and consent

Necessary website functionality — browsing seasons, players, ratings, records and tools — works fully without analytics. Google Analytics is optional and activates only after you explicitly allow it. Before you decide, no Google Analytics script is loaded, no Google request is made and no analytics cookie is set.

Choosing Reject analytics does not restrict any part of BasketScope. You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer or the panel below.

The cookies BasketScope uses

BasketScope stores one small first-party consent-preference cookie. Optional Google Analytics cookies are created only after you grant analytics consent.

• basketscope_consent_v1 — necessary preference storage. Records only whether this browser has allowed or denied optional analytics (one controlled value; no identifier, no browsing history). First-party, lifetime up to 180 days.
• _ga and _ga_<stream> — Google Analytics cookies, created only after analytics consent. Google uses them to distinguish and measure visits; per Google’s documentation they typically persist up to about two years. If you later withdraw consent, BasketScope attempts to remove the Google Analytics cookies accessible to it and reloads the page so the tag is no longer active.

What Google Analytics does — and does not — do here

After you allow analytics, Google receives standard analytics event data (such as page views and a small set of BasketScope interaction events) so we can understand overall site traffic and improve BasketScope’s content and tools.

BasketScope does not use Google Analytics for advertising, remarketing or user profiling.

• Google Signals, User-ID and ads personalisation are not enabled.
• User-provided data collection is not enabled.
• Advertising-related consent is kept denied at all times.
• Search terms are not intentionally transmitted as custom analytics parameters, and the q search query-parameter is configured for redaction in the Google Analytics stream. Email-address redaction is also enabled in the stream.

Google Analytics uses cookies and processes information (which can include data such as an IP address) to provide its measurement service; this processing is carried out by Google as a separate provider. We do not describe this analytics as anonymous, and we do not make guarantees about where Google processes data or about international transfers. Retention

The BasketScope consent-preference cookie lasts up to 180 days. Google Analytics cookies typically persist up to about two years per Google’s documentation. Analytics event-data retention is a Google-managed setting configured in the GA4 property; refer to Google’s documentation for current defaults and options.

Data controller, your rights and contact

BasketScope — an independently operated project (not an incorporated company) — is the controller of the limited personal data processed through this site. If BasketScope makes a material change to how it approaches analytics or privacy, this page will be updated to reflect it.
